This is Jamaica’s national fruit named “Ackee”, Before 1778 this exotic fruit was imported from western Africa to Jamaica (probably on slave ships) and since then Ackee has become a popular feature in many of Caribbean crusines and cultivated all over the world (mostly in tropical and sub tropical regions). Ackee is not entirely edible but only its inner yellow fleshy portions are consumed, This fruit is also extremely poisonous in its center specially the red bits. (Link)
